Flipping Lincoln Avenue: Up you go!

Flipping Lincoln Avenue: Up you go!

I went over to the house a few days ago and just about had a heart attack.

The entire house, with the exception of the 4 exterior corners and a few walls were GONE. I mean, the house is see-through. The roof is see-through. Holy cow. Thank god Lance is a calm and patient man. Otherwise, I might start spinning...

In any case, I wanted to share with you one of the next projects we are going to be focusing on: STAIRS! Even though I did put stairs in my Mexico house, I wasn't part of the nitty gritty, so it's a big learning curve for me.

Ever since we decided to turn the attic into a master suite, we've been looking at all kinds of images of stairs. I've gotten a little obsessed as I do. In fact, I've started a Pinterest board called UP YOU GO (the inspiration for this blog title). Check it out here.

Here's the space where the stairs will go.

And here is a very crude drawing of the placement of our future sweeping staircase!

I know this is a huge leap, but I just wanted to remind you of the ultimate vision we have for this. Let's hope it turns out even remotely close.

I took this photo because the amount of attention to detail is off the charts.

These are Lance's sketches on the floor of where EXACTLY the first step will fall. With this information and the exact height of the landing, these stairs can be ordered. Yes, I said ordered. Lance found a company, DSQ, who has an on-line stair builder. Check it out here. You plug in all your dimensions, choose your materials and it creates the stairs for you. Then it can be shipped to you all in one piece or flat to be installed on-site.

Stairs 101

This is probably more information you'll never need on stairs, but I'm sharing this whole process, people, so you get to learn what I do.

And here is some killer STAIR inspiration!

I hope you enjoyed this deep dive on stairs. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Do you like the directions ours are taking? Or do you have a better idea? Tell me. Tell me.
